Estate to Plate is a project that enabled local Hackney residents and workers from community groups to learn how to run cooking and growing clubs in their local community.
As part of the project, we also offered accredited courses on cooking and growing for those who want to pursue their topics that little bit further or give something back to their community
Funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food Fund, Estate to Plate is managed by Shoreditch Trust and delivered in partnership with Get Growing and St Mary’s Secret Garden. Together, our aim is to bring a healthier relationship to food right into the heart of estates in Hackney.
After two successful years, the project came to a close on 31st March 2014, leaving behind estates-based food growing activities, fully equipped community kitchens and local residents that are more informed and more engaged in communal gardening and cooking activities.
We are currently working on an end of project report - come back soon to find out more.
