Shoreditch Trust presents its twelfth annual Shoreditch Festival on the weekend of Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 July 2013 in Hoxton Street.

Shoreditch Festival brings communities together on Hoxton Street through engagement with imaginative cultural performances and experiences in one of Shoreditch’s most historic locations.

This summer’s programme celebrates the area by championing local work through partnerships with traders, voluntary groups, arts organisations and schools.

Outstanding music and theatre performances are showcased through Shoreditch Trust’s partnerships with the Barbican, the Rhythm of London and Remarkable Productions.

Highlights include :

  • Seven new street theatre shows through the Gone in 20 Minutes programme in collaboration with SO Festival (Skegness) and Stockton International Festival.
     
  • Exhibition of Shoreditch Trust and University of the Arts London’s six month Creative Mentoring programme. Local young people and six Shoreditch creative organisations explore Hoxton Street’s unique character through the world of hair salons. Open to visitors on Hoxton Street (13-14 July) and The Trust’s new 20 East Road workspace (16-17 July).
     
  • Hoxton Street Party music festival on Sunday 14 July.

Shoreditch Trust and London Borough of Hackney fill Hoxton Street with activities and performances for all ages.

Street Dance // Circus Acts // Street Theatre shows // Craft areas – Hoxton Hall costume workshops, Ministry of Stories Monster Supplies // arts – Hoxton Free Art School at PEER Gallery, A Brooks Art // Live Music from GLA Rhythm of London buskers // plus an array of walkabout acts, market stalls, food and local beer festivals.

 

Sunday 14 July
Hoxton Street Party at Shoreditch Festival

Shoreditch Trust and the Barbican present a day of summer festival music on Hoxton Street.

DJ sets // the Barbican drummers // The People Speak’s talkaoke // Festival parade // Music Stage

Featuring local and international acts including Afro-Latin-Gypsy Funk heroes Awale, rising soul and jazz star Iva Lamkum and hyper energetic, high-speed dance phenomenon headliners from South Africa Shangaan Electro.
