As we head into winter and increased lockdown measures, there continues to be a huge need for community-based solutions for crisis and distress experienced by people in Hackney and the City.
Shoreditch Trust will continue to innovate our services, to try to meet this need and work with our communities to design effective social action responses that bring about lasting positive change. As an anchor organisation in East London, we are deeply aware of the vital role we must continue to play to support our communities during the pandemic and in the coming years beyond as we rebuild.
This winter, your support can contribute to our covid-19 response programme including:
- Community Table Winter – funding allows us to continue to deliver cooked food, to those who are seriously unwell, living with underlying health conditions, limited mobility, don't have support networks, with babies and young children or lack access to safe cooking facilities. Delivered from Waterhouse, our social enterprise restaurant and supported by chef trainees and community volunteers.
- Blue Marble Training – a number of our young people on our chef and baking training programme struggle to access online training, resources and employment opportunities due to lack of personal IT equipment. We are seeking funding to purchase IT tablets to ensure access.
- We Connect – our remote befriending service for socially isolated people. Funding allows us to train and support volunteers who are in regular phone contact with isolated residents.
These items are illustrative - we will use your gift wherever the need is greatest.
You can email us if you would like information about donating this winter, including ways to donate.
Thank you for supporting people in Hackney!
